			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>FREE: February 23, Saturday, Tahlequah Community Building at 908 S. College Street, Tahlequah, OK. A Rancher/Farmer, and Market Gardener workshop.</p>
<p>Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. for an all day session focused for the market producer and larger farmers. We will hear from a panel of Regional Chef’s discussing their needs and desires for sourcing local foods &#8211; Chef Guy Romo, along with Chef Eli Huff, from Tulsa Union Schools, and Chef Darren Ross from Doc&#8217;s Restaurant in Tulsa. They are seeking sources for local meat, cheese, grains and produce to purchase for the 2013 season.</p>
<p>Other topics include: Food Safety &#8211; Josh Daily, Health Department Inspector Mayes County; Value Added Products- Erin Johnson, Marketing Coordinator, FAPC OSU; Soil Health: Minerals &#8211; Tiffany Maher PhD, Northeastern State University; and Profitability – Coleen Thornton, Heaven Sent Food and Fiber.</p>
<p>We will also be joined by some agencies partners and local vendors sharing their resources and products. We will share a POTLUCK lunch together with presenters and community members.</p>

Saturday evening&#8217;s entertainment will be provided by the very talented singer/songwriter, Eliza Gilkyson. The featured gallery artist this year is Gesine Janzen, and we have a special art installation by sculptor Bill McBride as an accompaniment to our Friday night barn dance and bonfire.</p>
<p>Fees for this year are: Early Registration (received in our office by Sept. 10) for Friends of the Land: $16 for the weekend; others: $26. Registrations received after Sept. 10 for Friends of the Land: $20 for the weekend; others: $30. Students get in for $10 for the entire weekend. Optional Saturday night dinner: $14. As always, there is no charge for Friday evening&#8217;s barn dance for those attending on Saturday or Sunday (free will donation otherwise), and Saturday evening&#8217;s entertainment is also included with the weekend.</p>

<p>Our classes go a step farther than regular classes &#8211; we teach some history of fiber arts, and not just the &#8220;how to&#8221; &#8211; so in carding this involves picking with hand picks and the table pick and carding with hand carders and the table carder etc.</p>
