Future Farms 2008 Conference Proceedings & Farm Tour Photos Now Online
The Kerr Center’s Future Farms 2008: Planning for Change conference drew a big crowds in Oklahoma City at the beginning of August.The first day, over 140 tourgoers visited sustainable farms all over the state.

Teaching Sustainability: A Panel Discussion – October 9
[ October 9, 2008; 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. ] What is the future of sustainable design? Architects Frank Lloyd Wright and Sam Mockbee founded design/build schools based on their personal philosophies on architecture that were tied to what we now see as environmentally-sound principles. But what are those schools doing now? Price Tower Arts Center presents a panel discussion including representatives from architecture programs across the U.S. as they discuss new approaches toward sustainable design topics. Panelists include Victory Side, Dean of Taliesin: The Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture; Rusty Smith, Rural Studio Coordinator at Auburn University; and Macraw Rood, Chairman of the Board of Yestermorrow Design/Build School.

Mel Chin Lecture at University of Tulsa – October 2
University of Tulsa’s School of Art presents a lecture by artist Mel Chin as part of the J. Donald Feagin Distinguished Guest Lecture Series and the Price Tower Arts Center exhibition Imaginative Qualities of Actual Things. Mel Chin’s work defies easy classification, it ranges from land reclamation projects, public art installations, film, video games, to gallery objects and appears in unlikely places such as industrial waste land, destroyed homes, even popular television programs. 13740 East 46th Street North and is approximately 1 1/2 miles east of U.S. 169. No air conditioners or refrigerators will be accepted. There will be a $2.00 fee for each tire.
